Opening up, Manish Malhotra said that he backed the movie as it is different from what is being made in the industry. He also spoke about the casting. Manish said, "Vibhu and my team had a lot of discussions about the cast. We fixated on Vijay as he is an intense actor. He has the height, look and an old world charm. Then we thought of Fatima. She is beautiful. I sent the script to her and she agreed to do the film. They were our first choices. We wanted an unusual pair. You don't expect to see Vijay in a romantic look." Vijay and Fatima shared how the sets were filled with laughter and opened up about their camaraderie. They also shared about being goofy with each other and made the audience laugh at the trailer launch. Fans have also loved the moments in the trailer featuring Naseeruddin Shah. I was being nervous but we had a long discussion.
