一 |     U.S. regulators are investigating General Motors' Cruise autonomous vehicle division after receiving reports of incidents where vehicles may not have used proper caution around pedestrians in roadways.The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that the reports involve automated driving system equipped vehicles encroaching on pedestrians present in or entering roadways, including crosswalks. This could raise the risk of a vehicle striking a pedestrian, which could result in severe injury or death, according to the NHTSA. The NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation said that it's received two reports involving pedestrian injuries from Cruise vehicles. It's also identified two additional incidents from videos posted to public websites. The office said the total number of relevant pedestrian incidents is unknown. It opened an investigation on Monday. “Cruise’s safety record over 5 million miles continues to outperform comparable human drivers at a time when pedestrian injuries and deaths are at an all-time high," Cruise spokesperson Hannah Lindow said in a prepared statement. “Cruise communicates regularly with NHTSA and has consistently cooperated with each of NHTSA’s requests for information –– whether associated with an investigation or not –– and we plan to continue doing so.”The ODI said its investigation is being opened to help determine the scope and severity of the potential problem, including causal factors that may relate to ADS driving policies and performance around pedestrians, and to fully assess the potential safety risks. In August General Motors' Cruise unit agreed to cut its fleet of San Francisco robotaxis in half as authorities investigated two crashes in the city.The state Department of Motor Vehicles asked for the reduction at the time after a Cruise vehicle without a human driver collided with an unspecified emergency vehicle.。                                                          [앵커]지금 연락이 닿지 않고 있는 한국인들은 네팔 수력발전소 건설 현장에 파견된 두산에너빌리티와 한국남동발전 직원들입니다.두 기업은 현지 상황을 파악하며 비상 대응 중입니다.최지현 기자입니다. [리포트] 네팔의 수도 카트만두에서 북서쪽으로 70km 떨어진 트리슐리 강 상류입니다. 2023년 9월부터 이곳에 216메가와트 규모 수력 발전소를 짓는 공사가 시작됐습니다.터널로 물을 끌어와 낙차를 만든 뒤 떨어뜨리는 발전 방식입니다. 남동발전이 투자와 현지 사업 진행을 맡았고, 두산에너빌리티는 시공사로 참여하면서 발전기 등 주요 기자재를 공급하는 역할도 맡았습니다. 사고 당시 현장에 있던 두산에너빌리티 직원은 15명, 이 가운데 5명과 연락이 끊겼습니다. 남동발전은 직원 3명과 연락이 닿지 않는다고 밝혔습니다. 다만 통신 이상인지, 홍수 피해를 입은 건지 아직 정확하게 확인할 수 없다고 덧붙였습니다. 두 회사는 현재 직원들의 안전 여부를 확인하는데 주력하고 있습니다. [한국남동발전 관계자 : "네팔 현지 정부 통해서 실시간으로 (구조) 요청을 하고 있는 중이고, 저희도 지금 가급적 빨리 현지 캠프를 만들어서 인원을 파견해 구조 활동을 지원할 계획을 가지고 있습니다."] 두산에너빌리티는 비상대책본부를 꾸렸고, 내일 정연인 대표이사를 포함한 대응팀이 현지로 출발한다고 밝혔습니다.
